Acting and filmmaking are expressions of the soul. There is art in every human being. As creativity soars on the wings of imagination, young people craft outwardly what was hidden inside.
It is a real privilege and joy to work with young people, empowering them to express their ideas for the rest of the world to see and admire. Filmmaking is the closest thing to magic that we know.
We have compiled a trademarked set of processes and philosophies, “The ACT 2 CAM Way” which enables young people to work together creatively to release their potential.
Our exclusive handbook of guiding principles and practices is designed to cultivate ability, confidence and creative freedom in young people. Though the knowledge and skills are specifically designed for drama and filmmaking, they can be applied to all walks of life.
These values cut through the heart of everything we do. They are our driving force.
We instill these values in our staff and everything else we do stems from these three:
Our processes fall into 5 distinct phases. It helps staff and students to understand where they are at in the process, and helps define our courses and give them structure
We are all unique elements. Who knows what will happen when we meet?
This first phase is all about getting to know each other. With a positive group dynamic and a mutually supportive atmosphere, we are now ready to set out on our creative journey
You can train yourself to be creative. What amazing ideas can we generate together?
In the second phase, we learn and practise skills and strategies in idea generation, creative collaboration and group problem solving. These are the basic tools for our craft, and the process ahead.
Do what you love to do. How can you get better at it?
In this third phase, students explore the material and practise their craft within their chosen discipline. Whatever your level, we teach vital new skills in Screen acting, Costume design, Directing, Editing, Lighting, Producing, Screenwriting, SFX makeup and Sound.
We all have our own place and purpose. Where do you belong in the team?
The fourth phase sees us putting our newly learned skills into practise, as part of the production team. We each have our own roles and responsibilities, working together to face the challenges of managing a project.
We have made something amazing together. Why not share it with the world?
In this phase we screen the end result of our work with the public. We invite friends and family to see our work exhibited in a commercial cinemas and we publish it as an anthology of films on DVD or BluRay. Our films are then entered into festivals worldwide.
Whether you are an actor, designer, musician or behind-the-camera, following ACT 2 CAM’s 10 creative processes for making a film will ensure you
